Our classes offer you a chance to improve your skills, learn a new project, or even learn how to knit or crochet for the first time from experienced, friendly, and patient teachers. We put our class schedule together with your interests in mind, and we’re happy to hear from you about what classes you would like to see.

Cost:  $15 per two-hour session
Offered on Tuesday and Wednesdays from 1:30 to 3:30
Come sit at the table and get professional, personalized help on your individual projects. Simply call to reserve your spot each week.

PRIVATE LESSONS AT JESSICA KNITS            
Cost:  $35/hour
Did you know that Jessica Knits offers private instruction? Whether your schedule just doesn’t allow for you to take advantage of our class offerings, or you simply want some one-on-one attention, private lessons give you the flexibility to schedule lessons specifically suited to your needs. We can also pro-rate the hour if necessary, and discounted rates are available for semi-private lessons of two or more people. Ask for details and to arrange your private lesson.

KNIT NIGHT and CHARITY KNIT NIGHT            
Cost:  FREE
Thursday evenings from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.
Every Thursday night is Knit Night at Jessica Knits and Crochets. Come work on your project and meet new friends in the comfort of the best knit shop in town. The first Thursday of every month is designated as Charity Knit Night – everyone works on pieces for charity giving (we can supply you with ideas, or even supplies to work on that night). All of the other Thursdays in the month are open knit nights, where you can mingle while you work on your favorite Jessica Knits projects.

Directed KAL with Bev                                                    Cost: $20 plus materials
Featuring the Hollyhock Cowl
Every Thursday morning from 10:30 to 12:30 p.m. We will meet for 2 hours on the first Thursday, October 5th to kick things off! We will help you to choose the perfect combination of colors and textures. Then every Thursday in October we will dedicate the 10:30 – 11:30 hour to the KAL. You can come in each week and get help, tips and tricks to help you complete your Hollyhock Cowl. You must call to sign up each week so we know how many are planning to attend.

TECHNIQUE, FIXING MISTAKES, AND FINISHING CLASSES

Sea of Change Cowl with Laurie                                       Cost: $30 plus materials
Offered Tuesday, October 3rd from 10:30 – 12:30 or Monday, October 16th from 10:30 – 12:30
Advanced Beginner – Must know how to knit in the round
An old-fashioned scalloped lace pattern gives this lovely cowl texture and movement.

Basic Socks with Mona                                                    Cost: $50 plus materials
Offered Wednesday, October 4th from 10:30 – 12:30 and Wednesday, October 11th from 10:30 – 12:30
Advanced Beginner – Must be comfortable with knitting and purling, knitting in the round and have made several projects.
Homework
Have you been thinking about making your first pair of socks? You will learn all the basic techniques in making a pair of socks in this 2 part class.

Oops! Now What? with Laurie                                         Cost: $30 plus materials
Offered Thursday, October 12th from 6:00 – 8:00 pm or Monday, October 30th from 1:30 – 3:30
Advanced Beginner
We have all been there. That moment that we look at our work and there is something wrong! We panic! Now what? This class will teach you to recognize your mistakes and you will learn to fix them yourself with confidence!

Beaded Cuffs with Ruffles with Nancy                                          Cost: $30 plus materials
Offered Friday, October 13th from 10:30 to 12:30 or Wednesday, October 25th from 10:30 – 12:30
Advanced Beginner – Prerequisites: Must be comfortable with knitting and purling, knitting in the round and have made several projects.
These pretty, beaded cuffs will make a wonderful holiday gift for that special person on your list! You will learn the different ways to apply beads to your knitting.

BEGINNING KNITTING CLASS

There’s never been a better time to learn how to knit. The fibers, patterns, and accessories are exquisite, and it just keeps growing in popularity. Let the experienced, patient teachers at Jessica Knits show you your knitting potential.

Knitting 101 – Beginning Knitting                                                            Cost: $50 plus materials
Offered Tuesday, October 17th and 24th from 10:30 to 12:30 with Bev or Friday, October 20th and 27th from 10:30 – 12:30 with Nancy or Saturday, October 21st and 28th from 1:30 to 6:30 with Kristen
In this class, you will learn the basics of knitting: casting on, knitting, purling, and binding off and get started on your first project.

KNITTING CLASSES

Pumpkin Spice with Laurie                                                           Cost: $30 plus materials
Offered Monday, October 9th from 10:30 – 12:30 or Tuesday, October 31st 10:30 – 12:30
Advanced Beginner
Pumpkin Spice is a quick knit, perfect for your Fall décor. This cute little pumpkin is knit in the round. They are so much fun you will want to create your own pumpkin patch!

Halloween Witch with Nancy                                                       Cost: $30 plus materials
Offered Friday, October 13th from 1:30 –3:30 or Monday, October 23rd from 10:30 – 12:30
Advanced Beginner – Must be proficient in knit and purl stitches
You may remember Nancy’s adorable Christmas Gnomes from last year. Well they are back for Halloween as a witch! You will learn a provisional cast on and other fun techniques while creating this cute decoration for Halloween!

Hilton Capelet/Cowl with Laurie                                                  Cost: $30 plus materials
Offered Wednesday, October 18th from 10:30 – 12:30 or Monday, October 30th from 10:30 – 12:30
Beginner – must have completed at least one project
This versatile wardrobe basic, worked in the round in garter stitch can be worn as a cowl or a capelet and is the perfect project for beginning knitters.

 

Building in Color:  Panel of the Month or Building Blocks

Building in Color and Building Blocks, Monday, October 16th from 1:30 to 3:30 with Bev
Cost: $30 per session, plus materials (Building in Color or Building Blocks book required)
Advanced Beginner
Prerequisite: Must know how to knit and purl efficiently and have completed several projects.
This series of classes will introduce you to the wonderful array of stitches and techniques each month to help you further your knitting skills. The sequential approach allows mastery of skills which then build upon each other in subsequent patterns. Each panel is then assembled into a beautiful blanket to become a cuddly favorite or gift for someone special.

CROCHET CLASSES

We love crochet at Jessica Knits and Crochets! Whether you are just starting out, or you are an experienced crocheter, we’ll hook you up with the classes you want.

Beginning Crochet with Kristen                                                    Cost: $30 plus materials
Offered Saturday, October 21st from 10:30 to 12:30 or Sunday, October 15tt from 12:30 – 2:30
Learn the basics of crochet in this two-hour class. Students will be introduced to the slip knot, chain stitch, single crochet, double crochet and turning chains. At the end of the class you will be ready to tackle your first crochet project!

Beading and Jewelry

Crochet Beaded Necklace with Kathy                                            Cost: $30 plus materials
Offered Thursday, October 12th from 1:30 to 3:30
You will learn to create beautiful crochet beaded necklaces. Get started on them now for holiday gift giving. You will learn to work with crochet thread and beads. Prerequisite: must be able to crochet.

Netted Tube Necklace with Pam                                                   Cost: $40 plus materials
Offered Saturday, October 14th from 10:30 to 1:00
This is a fun beading technique that creates a beautiful necklace that looks like an expensive piece of jewelry! You will complete it in class and wear it home that day. You might want to buy and extra kit or two because when your friends and family see it they will all want one!

Peyote Channel Necklace with Pam                                                          Cost: $30 plus materials
Offered Saturday, October 14th from 1:30 to 4:00
This is a great project for learning Peyote beading. You will learn the basics while creating this interesting and attractive necklace design. You will have a finished necklace when you leave class. You may want to buy an extra kit to make one as a holiday gift!

Felt Balls and Beaded Holiday Garland with Kathy                         Cost: $30 plus materials
Offered Thursday, October 26th from 1:30 to 3:30
This is a fun and unique take on the traditional holiday garland! Created with felted balls and lots of colorful beads, this great little garland will add a bit of bling to your holiday!

 

FELTING

Forget Me Not Felted Flowers with Viki                                         Cost: $30 plus materials
Offered Sunday, October 8th from 12:30 –2:30 Advanced Beginner – Must be proficient in knit and purl stitches
You will learn the basics of felting while making these special flowers perfect for embellishing your favorite hat or felted purse.

Connecticut Pumpkin with Nancy                                                 Cost: $30 plus materials
Offered Friday, October 20th from 1:30 –3:30
Advanced Beginner – Must be proficient in Knit and purl stitches
Need a special, homemade Halloween decoration? Try this wonderful felted Pumpkin … all the way from Connecticut! You will learn the basics of felting so that you will feel confident in finishing your special pumpkin at home!

WEAVING CLASSES

KIDS KNITTING

Kids’ Knitting with Viki                                           Cost: $30 plus materials
Offered Sunday, October 29th from 12:30 to 2:30
Learn the basics of knitting in this fun two-hour class: casting on, knitting and binding off, and get set up for your first project (a bracelet!).

Class Policies

Space is limited. Sign-ups close 48 hours prior to the first class. Entry into class after sign-ups have closed is at the discretion of the instructor.

Full payment is required to reserve a space in a class. If you are interested in taking an advanced class, please check the requirements and make sure you have the required skills necessary. A staff member can assist you in finding the perfect class. Private lessons are available for more individualized instruction. In order to give you proper attention, we ask that you book a private lesson if you require more than ten or fifteen minutes of personalized, one-on-one assistance with a project.  Unless otherwise noted, supplies and pattern costs are not included in the class fee. Copyrighted patterns for sale may not be copied or duplicated. Unless otherwise stated, all supplies for classes must be purchased at Jessica Knits & Crochets. Most supplies purchased specifically for your class at Jessica Knits and Crochets receive a 10% discount (some items are not eligible for the discount). May not be combined with other discounts or offers. 

Cancellation Policy

Class fees are refundable up to one (1) week prior to the first class. Class fees are transferable starting seven (7) days prior to the first class. Class fees are non-refundable within the 48 hour period prior to the first class. The Class Schedule is subject to change. Jessica Knits reserves the right to cancel or reschedule a class. Students will be notified of all adjustments made to the schedule.
