Our classes offer you a chance to improve your skills, learn a new project, or even learn how to knit or crochet for the first time from experienced, friendly, and patient teachers. We put our class schedule together with your interests in mind, and we’re happy to hear from you about what classes you would like to see.

Did you know that Jessica Knits offers private instruction? Whether your schedule just doesn’t allow for you to take advantage of our class offerings, or you simply want some one-on-one attention, private lessons give you the flexibility to schedule lessons specifically suited to your needs. We can also pro-rate the hour if necessary, and discounted rates are available for semi-private lessons of two or more people. Ask for details and to arrange your private lesson.
KAL (Knit-Along) PROJECTS AT JESSICA KNITS Cost: You pay for materials only
We have a new Classic Elite Liberty Wool KAL join us on Saturday, March 25th from3:30 – 5:00 With six patterns to choose from – two crochet and four knit – everyone will find their favorite. Meeting with others at our monthly KAL will keep you motivated to get your blanket done in 2017!
A Knit-Along, or KAL for short, is when a group of people work on the same project simultaneously, make new friends, and share ideas. Best of all, there’s no charge to participate. Just purchase your materials at Jessica Knits and you are good to go!
KNIT NIGHT and CHARITY KNIT NIGHT
Thursday evenings from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.
Every Thursday night is Knit Night at Jessica Knits and Crochets. Come work on your project and meet new friends in the comfort of the best knit shop in town. The first Thursday of every month is designated as Charity Knit Night – everyone works on pieces for charity giving (we can supply you with ideas, or even supplies to work on that night). All of the other Thursdays in the month are open knit nights, where you can mingle while you work on your favorite Jessica Knits projects.

Never Fear Double Points Again with Laurie Cost: $30 plus materials
Offered Monday, April 3rd from 10:30 to 12:30 or Tuesday, April 18th from 1:30 – 3:30
You will get comfortable using double pointed needles in this class! You will learn to cast-on and join in the round, knit and purl in the round as well as increase and decrease using stitch markers to keep track of your rounds. We will also cover how to make an icord!
Fixing Mistakes with Cathrine Cost: $30 plus materials

Advanced Beginner – Homework
Learn how to fix the kind of simple knitting mistakes we all make now and then. Techniques learned include picking up dropped stitches, unknitting, creating lifelines, and reading your work. You’ll also receive tips on avoiding mistakes in the first place.
Finishing Techniques with Cathrine Cost: $30 plus materials

Advanced Beginner – Homework
Have you been afraid to tackle sewing your garment together because you just weren’t sure where to begin? This class takes the mystery out of finishing. Learn the proper stitches to use and practice them in class. We’ll cover blocking, pinning, seaming, picking up stitches, the three-needle bind off and Kitchener stitch.
Learn to Knit Continental with Cathrine Cost: $30 plus materials

Whether you’re hoping to ease muscles in your hands or curious about this style of knitting, this class will put you on the road to better tension and add variety to your knitting skills.

In this class, you will learn the basics of knitting: casting on, knitting, purling, and binding off and get started on your first project.
Azzu’s Shawl with Cathrine Cost: $30 plus materials

Advanced Beginner – Prerequisites: Must know how to knit and purl and have made several projects.
A great shawl to wear this spring and all summer long! Cathrine has adapted this pattern into a row by row pattern that is easy to follow and helps you keep track.
Architexture Scarf with Laurie Cost: $30 plus materials
Offered Wednesday, April 5th from 10:30 – 12:30 or Monday, April24th from 10:30 – 12:30
Prerequisites: Must know how to knit and purl and have made several projects
Architexture is a rectangular scarf with pointed ends. Fully reversible, it is a collection of textures that enhance one another – made all the more striking because they are knitted on the bias. The frequent changes in stitch pattern keep the project engaging from beginning to end.

This is just one of four patterns included in the Market Bag Collection by Kate D’Ettore. These are great re-usable market bags that you will love to carry with you whenever you are going to the Farmer’s Market! The Lean to the Left bag is a simple two row pattern with a leftward leaning spiral look.

Building in Color, Monday, April 17th from 1:30 to 3:30 with Bev This series of classes will introduce you to the wonderful array of stitches and techniques each month to help you further your knitting skills. The sequential approach allows mastery of skills which then build upon each other in subsequent patterns. Each panel is then assembled into a beautiful blanket to become a cuddly favorite or gift for someone special.

Learn the basics of crochet in this, two-hour class. Students will be introduced to the slip knot, chain stitch, single crochet, double crochet and turning chains. At the end of the class you will be ready to tackle your first crochet project!

Little Pinecones with Cathrine Cost: $30 plus materials
Offered Friday, April 28th from 10:30 to 12:30 Advanced Beginner – Prerequisites: Must be comfortable with single crochet and double crochet and have made several projects.
This terrific tunic is fun to make! Did you know that the “pinecones” are made using the popcorn stitch? Learn how to read a pattern and chart and get this project started in class.

Intro to Kumihimo with Pam Howard Cost: $40 plus materials
Offered Saturday, April 15th from 10:30 – 1:00
Japanese for “gathering threads,” Kumihimo is a form of braid making using a special foam loom. Come learn this increasingly popular technique with local specialist Pam Howard. You will learn the technique using fiber which will inspire you to use up some stash!

Beginning Weaving Workshop with Sonora Handmade Cost: $85 includes the cost of Loom & Materials

This is a great introduction to Lap Loom weaving! If you have ever wanted to explore weaving, this is the perfect workshop for you! Participants will get all the supplies needed to create their first woven wall hanging AND you get to take all the supplies home. This includes a gorgeous acrylic lap loom, weaving comb, needle, shuttle, and pickup stick. This also includes the yarn to get your project started!
Kids’ Knitting with Viki
Cost: $30 plus materials
Offered Sunday, April 2nd from 12:30 – 2:30
Learn the basics of knitting in this fun two-hour class: casting on, knitting and binding off, and get set up for your first project (a bracelet!).
Space is limited. Sign-ups close 48 hours prior to the first class. Entry into class after sign-ups have closed is at the discretion of the instructor.
Full payment is required to reserve a space in a class. If you are interested in taking an advanced class, please check the requirements and make sure you have the required skills necessary. A staff member can assist you in finding the perfect class. Private lessons are available for more individualized instruction. In order to give you proper attention, we ask that you book a private lesson if you require more than ten or fifteen minutes of personalized, one-on-one assistance with a project. Unless otherwise noted, supplies and pattern costs are not included in the class fee. Copyrighted patterns for sale may not be copied or duplicated. Unless otherwise stated, all supplies for classes must be purchased at Jessica Knits & Crochets. Most supplies purchased specifically for your class at Jessica Knits and Crochets receive a 10% discount (some items are not eligible for the discount). May not be combined with other discounts or offers.
Class fees are refundable up to one (1) week prior to the first class. Class fees are transferable starting seven (7) days prior to the first class. Class fees are non-refundable within the 48 hour period prior to the first class. The Class Schedule is subject to change. Jessica Knits reserves the right to cancel or reschedule a class. Students will be notified of all adjustments made to the schedule.
