Our classes offer you a chance to improve your skills, learn a new project, or even learn how to knit or crochet for the first time from experienced, friendly, and patient teachers. We put our class schedule together with your interests in mind, and we’re happy to hear from you about what classes you would like to see.

PRIVATE LESSONS AT JESSICA KNITS
Did you know that Jessica Knits offers private instruction? Whether your schedule just doesn’t allow for you to take advantage of our class offerings, or you simply want some one-on-one attention, private lessons give you the flexibility to schedule lessons specifically suited to your needs. We can also pro-rate the hour if necessary, and discounted rates are available for semi-private lessons of two or more people. Ask for details and to arrange your private lesson.
KAL (Knit-Along) PROJECTS AT JESSICA KNITS Cost: You pay for materials only
We have a new Classic Elite Liberty Wool KAL join us on Saturday, March 25th from3:30 – 5:00 With six patterns to choose from – two crochet and four knit – everyone will find their favorite. Meeting with others at our monthly KAL will keep you motivated to get your blanket done in 2017!
A Knit-Along, or KAL for short, is when a group of people work on the same project simultaneously, make new friends, and share ideas. Best of all, there’s no charge to participate. Just purchase your materials at Jessica Knits and you are good to go!
KNIT NIGHT and CHARITY KNIT NIGHT
Thursday evenings from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.
Every Thursday night is Knit Night at Jessica Knits and Crochets. Come work on your project and meet new friends in the comfort of the best knit shop in town. The first Thursday of every month is designated as Charity Knit Night – everyone works on pieces for charity giving (we can supply you with ideas, or even supplies to work on that night). All of the other Thursdays in the month are open knit nights, where you can mingle while you work on your favorite Jessica Knits projects.

Cable Techniques – The Rambling Cable Scarf with Viki Cost: $30 plus materials

Learn how to knit a simple cable pattern and then you can use that technique to make a fun, random cable scarf. You determine when and where you want the cable to be!
Learn to Knit Continental with Cathrine Cost: $30 plus materials

Do you knit English style and have you always envied those who knit Continental because it seems that they can knit faster and with more even tension? Well why not join the ranks of Continental Knitters! Join us and you will be flying along with the best of them in no time!
Knitting in Both Directions with Robin Cost: $30 plus materials
Offered Sunday, March 19th from 2:30 to 4:30
Have you ever wondered how you can knit Stockinette without turning your work around and purling? The technique of knitting in both directions allows for increased speed in your knitting, stitches and rows that are uniform and takes up less room in tight situations. You can also apply this technique to ribbing, seed stitch, almost anything where you would knit and purl.
Fixing Mistakes with Cathrine Cost: $30 plus materials
Offered Tuesday, March 7th from 10:30 to 12:30
Learn how to fix the kind of simple knitting mistakes we all make now and then. Techniques learned include picking up dropped stitches, unknitting, creating lifelines, and reading your work. You’ll also receive tips on avoiding mistakes in the first place.
Finishing Techniques with Cathrine Cost: $30 plus materials

Advanced Beginner – Homework
Have you been afraid to tackle sewing your garment together because you just weren’t sure where to begin? This class takes the mystery out of finishing. Learn the proper stitches to use and practice them in class. We’ll cover blocking, pinning, seaming, picking up stitches, the three-needle bind off and Kitchener stitch.
Robin’s Top 10 Tricks & Tips with Robin Cost: $30 plus materials
Offered Sunday, March 19th from 12:00 to 3:00
Have you ever wondered how to change yarns during a project and look perfect? How about simplifying attaching work in the round? Would you like to sew pieces together seamlessly? And don’t forget picking up stitches and not having it too tight or loose. And a special cast on for ribbing. I have 10 quick and easy ways to make knitting life easier. You might already know some but come learn the others.
Ravelry De-Mystified with Robin Cost: $30 plus materials

Ravelry is a great resource for all knitters and crocheters. It offers so much more than patterns. This 2-hour introduction will teach you how to do advanced searches for patterns, begin your pattern library and notebook, post to forums, and read discussion groups. You would be amazed at what is out there. Ravelry literally brings the world of knitting and crocheting to you!! A must for all knitters and crocheters.

In this class, you will learn the basics of knitting: casting on, knitting, purling, and binding off and get started on your first project.
Moonlight Lace Basics with Laurie Cost: $30 plus materials
Offered Monday, March 6th from 10:30 – 12:30 or Wednesday, March 29th from 10:30 to 12:30
Advanced Beginner – Homework
We will learn the two lace patterns featured in Yumiko Alexander’s Moonlight Shrug pattern. Once you master them you can knit your own beautiful Moonlight Shrug!
Entrelac Hat with Nancy Cost: $30 plus materials
Offered Friday, March 24th from 10:30 to 12:30
Advanced Beginner – Prerequisites: Must be able to knit in the round and have completed several projects
This is a good beginner project for those new to entrelac knitting.
Cameo Shawl with Bev Cost: $30 plus materials
Offered Monday, March 13th from 1:30 – 3:30
Advanced Beginner – Prerequisites: Must have done basic lace and completed several projects The Cameo is a modern yet feminine shawl fun and fast to knit! It is knitted in a garter stitch with striped and lace sections added for textural and colour interest. The simple picot border is worked together with the main body.
Golf Club Covers with Laurie Cost: $30 plus materials
Offered Tuesday, March 14th from 10:30 to 12:30 or Monday, March 27th from 10:30 to 12:30
Advanced Beginner – Prerequisites: Must know how to knit and purl and have made several projects.
Protect your golf clubs with a sense of humor! These covers feature generous sizing to fit your largest clubs, simple shaping (clubs are seamed up the back), and duplicate stitched motifs. Included in the chart are: #, @, !, asterisk and %.
Linen Stitch Scarf with Laurie Cost: $30 plus materials

Advanced Beginner – Prerequisites: Must know how to knit and purl and follow a pattern.
Learn a fun new stitch pattern while creating a beautiful scarf that looks woven! The texture is what attracts people to the linen stitch and the fact that the sides won’t roll. You will use this stitch pattern again in other projects once you master the technique.
Mini Reversible Duck/Bunny Toy with Nancy Cost: $30 plus materials

Advanced Beginner – Prerequisites: Must know how to knit and purl and have completed several projects.
These sweet little reversible toys whip up in a short amount of time. Spud & Chloë Sweater is the perfect yarn to make these adorable springtime buddies. You will be knitting in the round on Double Pointed Needles.
New! Building in Color: Panel of the Month or Building Blocks
Cost: $30 per session, plus materials (Building in Color or Building Blocks book required)
Prerequisite: Must know how to knit and purl efficiently and have completed several projects.
Building in Color, Monday, March 20th from 1:30 to 3:30 with Bev This series of classes will introduce you to the wonderful array of stitches and techniques each month to help you further your knitting skills. The sequential approach allows mastery of skills which then build upon each other in subsequent patterns. Each panel is then assembled into a beautiful blanket to become a cuddly favorite or gift for someone special.

Beginning Crochet with Cathrine Cost: $30 plus materials
Offered Wednesday, March 8th from 10:30 to 12:30
Learn the basics of crochet in this, two-hour class. Students will be introduced to the slip knot, chain stitch, single crochet, double crochet and turning chains. At the end of the class you will be ready to tackle your first crochet project!
Intermediate Crochet with Cathrine Cost: $30 plus materials
Offered Saturday, March 11th from 1:30 to 3:30 or Wednesday, March 22nd from 10:30 to 12:30
Take your crochet skills to the next level! You will learn to read a pattern and how to crochet in the round.
Marshmallow Bunnies – Crochet with Cathrine Cost: $30 plus materials
Offered Tuesday, March 14th from 1:30 to 3:30 Advanced Beginner – Prerequisites: Must be comfortable with single crochet and double crochet and have made several projects.
Crochet in the round and make up a couple of perfect little Bunny “Peeps” for your Spring celebration!

Kids’ Knitting with Viki
Cost: $30 plus materials
Offered Sunday, February 12th from 12:30 – 2:30
Learn the basics of knitting in this fun two-hour class: casting on, knitting and binding off, and get set up for your first project (a bracelet!).
Space is limited. Sign-ups close 48 hours prior to the first class. Entry into class after sign-ups have closed is at the discretion of the instructor.
Full payment is required to reserve a space in a class. If you are interested in taking an advanced class, please check the requirements and make sure you have the required skills necessary. A staff member can assist you in finding the perfect class. Private lessons are available for more individualized instruction. In order to give you proper attention, we ask that you book a private lesson if you require more than ten or fifteen minutes of personalized, one-on-one assistance with a project. Unless otherwise noted, supplies and pattern costs are not included in the class fee. Copyrighted patterns for sale may not be copied or duplicated. Unless otherwise stated, all supplies for classes must be purchased at Jessica Knits & Crochets. Most supplies purchased specifically for your class at Jessica Knits and Crochets receive a 10% discount (some items are not eligible for the discount). May not be combined with other discounts or offers.
Class fees are refundable up to one (1) week prior to the first class. Class fees are transferable starting seven (7) days prior to the first class. Class fees are non-refundable within the 48 hour period prior to the first class. The Class Schedule is subject to change. Jessica Knits reserves the right to cancel or reschedule a class. Students will be notified of all adjustments made to the schedule.
