For over thirty years, Tammy Barker lived in the Valley of the Sun running a successful real estate and general contracting business with her husband, John. While taking a break from real estate, Tammy began to knit and crochet again as her mother did. Once again, the business world beckoned when this beautiful yarn store in north Scottsdale was looking to sell. Tammy saw her next business venture and she and John acquired the store in May 2011.
Jessica Knits has never looked better! Tammy continues to provide amazing designs, new and beautiful fibers, and exceptional services that have people across the country seeking out our store. We look forward to exceeding your expectations on your next visit.
CATHRINE A. MCCLURE
Cathrine has been crafting since she was a young girl. Sewing and quilting her way through high school, she also learned to crochet at age 14. Teaching herself to knit at age 19, she made several sweaters, then switched to filet crochet, and through the years has worked at needlepoint, cross-stitch, and sold her own designed custom-made quilts. With her focus now mainly on knitting and crochet, she works and teaches at Jessica Knits, always learning new techniques to share with her students.
Viki loves knitting, felting and making cables. Making felted bags is her favorite. She loves working with hand dyed worsted weight yarns in merino or cashmere fibers. A former Special Ed. teacher, she enjoys golf, needlepoint, knitting and Mah Jongg.
Nancy and her husband recently relocated to Arizona from Connecticut to be closer to family. They are enjoying learning about and seeing all the beauty Arizona has to offer. Since retiring after 42 years in health care she has enjoyed spending more time knitting for her grandchildren, gardening, reading, hiking and bicycling.
Born in Urbana, Illinois, Kathy is a new transplant to Arizona. Her Mom taught her to knit and crochet when she was 8 years old. Kathy has become fond of working with linen, rayon, hemp and bamboo. What Kathy loves most about knitting…it lets her create something unique and it is portable!
Laurie has been knitting since her Mom and Grandmother taught her to knit as a teen. Knitting in Buffalo, New York meant knitting with heavier yarns; since moving to Arizona nearly 30 years ago, she has enjoyed working with all different types and weights of yarns. She enjoys working with customers and loves the challenge of a “difficult” pattern.
